Airline pet carrier size checker
Enter your carrier's outside measurements. We compare them with each airline's published under-seat limit, aircraft by aircraft where the airline gives more than one.
How to measure a pet carrier
- Zip the carrier closed and stand it on the floor.
- Measure the outside, including pockets, handles that stick out and wheels.
- Length is the longest side. Height runs from the floor to the highest point of the frame.
- Measure soft carriers without squashing them. Gate agents see them the same way.
Height is the limit that catches most people out, because the space under a seat is lowest at the back. There's no official "airline approved" or "TSA approved" certificate: a carrier is approved if it fits the airline's limit. The carrier guide lists every airline's numbers.
How the checker decides
Length and width can swap, because you can turn a carrier sideways. Height can't. Where an airline publishes separate soft and hard limits, we use the one that matches your carrier. If you enter a weight, airlines with a weight cap (KLM, Lufthansa, Air France and Turkish, 8 kg) are checked too. Soft carriers up to 1 in too tall are marked "Tight fit", because they usually flex.
