Checked pets (birds, cats, chinchillas, dogs, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, rabbits): $100-$118 within Canada and U.S., $200-$236 outside, per direction. Max 45 kg (100 lb) pet plus kennel; kennel max 101 x 68 x 81 cm (40 x 27 x 32 in). Kennel limits per flight: 3 on 737, 2 on 787, 1 on Dash 8. Pets to London Heathrow must go as manifested cargo; pets travelling alone and strong breeds (CR 82 crate) via WestJet Cargo.
Snub-nosed breeds
For bookings made after July 4, 2023, brachycephalic breeds cannot travel in the baggage compartment and must be booked through WestJet Cargo. Listed cats: British Shorthair, Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, Persian, Selkirk Rex, Scottish Fold. Listed dogs include Affenpinscher, Boston Terrier, Boxer, all Bulldogs, Bullmastiff, Cane Corso, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, apple-headed Chihuahua, Chow Chow, Pekingese, all Pugs, Shar-Pei, Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and others.
